Privacy Policy
How Abide collects, uses, shares, protects, retains, and deletes information when you use the app and related services.
Abide (“Abide,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains the information Abide collects or receives, how that information is used and shared, how long it may be retained, and the choices available to you. It applies to the Abide mobile application, Abide websites, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create or use an Abide account, we may collect your email address, username, display name, profile photo, authentication identifiers, account settings, and preferences. If you choose a third-party sign-in method, such as Sign in with Apple, we may receive the account information that provider makes available to us.
Content and information you choose to provide
Depending on the features you use, you may provide Bible highlights and notes, journal entries, prayer requests, saved Scripture, study responses, personal-study inputs, course or quiz activity, community posts, comments, public Bible notes, profile information, creator content, images, videos, audio, and other submissions. Some information you choose to provide may reveal sensitive personal beliefs or religious interests. You control whether to provide this information and, where available, whether certain content is private or public.
Public and private content
Content marked Private is intended to be visible only to you, except where limited access is necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or legally comply with the Service. Content you intentionally mark or publish as Public may be visible to other users and may appear in community feeds, profiles, Scripture discussions, or similar public areas.
Camera, microphone, photos, and video
If you use features that require your camera, microphone, photo library, or media library, Abide may request the corresponding device permission. These permissions support features such as recording or uploading media, choosing a profile photo, creating creator/community content, or selecting existing media. Abide accesses these device features only when permission has been granted and as needed for features you choose to use.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we may process a device notification token and your notification preferences to send reminders, account notices, study or prayer reminders, community activity, or other notifications you request or enable.
Subscription and purchase information
If you purchase or use a subscription, we may receive information necessary to determine your subscription status and entitlements, such as product identifiers, purchase status, renewal status, and transaction-related identifiers. Payment-card details are generally processed by the applicable app store or payment platform rather than by Abide.
Support communications
If you contact Abide through our support form or by email, we may collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, Abide username, support topic, subject, and message. Support-form submissions may be processed through Google Apps Script, stored in a Google Sheet used for support operations, and delivered to our support inbox so we can review and respond to your request. Please do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, or other highly sensitive information through the support form.
Technical and usage information
We may collect or receive limited technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve Abide, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash or diagnostic information, authentication and security events, and interactions with app features.

3. AI-assisted features
Certain Abide features may use artificial intelligence or automated systems to provide study guides, explanations, summaries, recommendations, or related generated content. When you intentionally use an AI-assisted feature, information you submit to that feature—such as a question, selected preferences, or personal-study responses—may be transmitted through Abide's backend to an AI-processing provider as necessary to generate the requested result.
If Abide shares personal data with a third-party AI provider, Abide will provide any in-app disclosure or permission request required by applicable platform rules or law before that sharing occurs. AI-generated content can be incomplete or inaccurate and should not be treated as authoritative theological, medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
4. How information may be shared
Service providers
We use service providers to operate and support Abide. These may include Supabase for backend infrastructure, authentication, database, realtime functionality, and storage; RevenueCat for subscription entitlement and purchase-status management; Google services such as Google Apps Script, Google Sheets, and email infrastructure for support communications; app-store providers such as Apple and Google for purchases and platform services; notification and hosting infrastructure; and AI-processing providers when you use an AI-assisted feature.
We provide service providers only the information reasonably necessary for their role. We require or rely on contractual terms and safeguards designed to ensure that service providers protect user information to the same or an equivalent level of protection described in this Privacy Policy, subject to applicable law and the provider's role in delivering the Service.
Content you make public
Public Bible notes, public prayer requests, community posts, comments, public profile information, creator content, and other content you intentionally publish may be visible to other users and may be copied, shared, or otherwise interacted with by those users.
Legal, safety, and security reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process; protect users or the public; detect, investigate, or respond to abuse, fraud, or security incidents; enforce our Terms; or protect the rights, safety, and property of Abide or others.
Business transfers
If Abide is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
No sale of personal information
Abide does not sell personal information for money. If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by law or platform rules.
5. Consent, permissions, and your controls
You can decline optional device permissions or revoke previously granted permissions through your device settings. Depending on your device, this may include camera, microphone, photo/media library, and notification permissions. Some features may not function if the permission they require is disabled.
You may also change supported privacy choices within Abide, such as making certain notes private or public, deleting content, adjusting notification preferences, blocking users, reporting content, and deleting your account. Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent using the available controls or by contacting us, subject to applicable law.
6. Community safety and moderation
Public content may be filtered, reviewed, restricted, removed, or moderated to protect users and enforce our Terms and community rules. Users may report content or accounts and may block other users where those features are available. We may retain limited information about safety reports or enforcement actions when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining an active account, protecting security, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and complying with legal obligations. Different categories of information may be retained for different periods. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete or de-identify it.
8. Account and data deletion
You can initiate permanent deletion of your Abide account from within the app. You can also use our Delete Account page to request account deletion if you cannot access the app.
When an account is deleted, Abide will delete or de-identify personal information and User Content associated with that account, including public content such as posts, public notes, images, videos, and other shared content, except information we are legally required or otherwise legitimately permitted to retain for purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or regulatory compliance. We will also take reasonable steps to instruct relevant service providers to delete associated data where required and applicable.
Deletion may take a reasonable period to complete. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups or logs until those systems cycle or expire, but they will not be restored for ordinary use after deletion.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Children and teen users
Abide is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in circumstances where parental consent is required. If we learn that such information was collected without required authorization, we may delete the information and associated account. A parent or guardian who believes a child under 13 has provided personal information may contact us.
11. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may submit a request through the app where available or contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
